CARNIFEX American Deathcore

Carnifex is an American Deathcore band from San Diego, California, formed in 2005.

Carnifex formed in 2005 in Fallbrook, California with a starting lineup of Scott Lewis and Shawn Cameron, as well as former members Rick James (guitar)and Kevin Vargas (bass) as a four piece. After releasing a self pressed, self titled 5 song EP which included the tracks 1. Death Awaits 2. My Heart In Atrophy 3. Redemption and Regret 4. An Event Of The Fallen 5. Tragedy In Remission. The Ep was released through local label Enclave Records in 2005. Two demos in early & mid 2006 followed. The first demo, referred to as the Hope Dies demo was a online release and was also only for sale at the bands live performance. It included 3 tracks. 1. It Was Only Love The First Time 2. Dead Against The Gates 3. Hope Dies With Decadent. In Sept of 2006 Rick James and Kevin Vargas amicably parted ways with Carnifex on the cusp of there touring career. Shortly after Steve McMahon joined as the bands bassist and Travis Whiting on guitar. The second demo, referred to as the Love Lies in Ashes demo was also only available online and at live performances. It included four tracks. 1. Collaborating Like Killers. 2. Slit Wrist Savior 3. Hope Dies With The Decadent(revised version) 4. Love Lies In Ashes. Carnifex was signed to underground label This City Is Burning Records in Dec 2006 and recorded their debut full length Dead in My Arms with yet another member change still a four piece but with current guitarist Cory Arford in March of 2007. The recording line-up was Scott Lewis, Cory Arford & Steve McMahon. Dead in my Arms was released on July 12, 2007.

PENNYWISE American Punk Rock

Pennywise is an American punk rock band from Hermosa Beach, California, formed in 1988. Their band name is derived from the monster, It from theStephen King novel, of the same title.

Between their 1991 self-titled debut and 2005's The Fuse, Pennywise had released an album every two years on Epitaph Records, a label owned by Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz. To date, Pennywise has released nine full-length studio albums, one live album, two EPs and one DVD. Their most recent studio album is 2008's Reason to Believe, which was released for free through a partnership between MySpace and Textango, a mobile music distributor. The album was also sold in stores through MySpace Records in the United States and Epitaph in Europe.

MGMT Best Pop Performance

MGMT (pronounced em-gee-em-tee /ɛm dʒiː ɛm ˈti) is an American band based in Brooklyn, New York, consisting of Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden. Formed at Wesleyan University and originally with Cantora records, they signed with Columbia Records/Red Ink/Sony in 2006.

On October 5, 2007, Spin.com named MGMT "Artist of the Day". On November 14, 2007, Rolling Stone pegged MGMT as a top 10 "Artist to Watch" in 2008. The band was named 9th in the BBC's Sound of 2008 top 10 poll. They were also named as Last.fm's most played new artist of 2008 in their Best of 2008 lists.


Their first album as MGMT, Oracular Spectacular, debuted at number 12 on the UK album chart and number six on the Australian ARIA Charts, and hit number one on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart. It has also been named the 18th best album of the decade by Rolling Stone magazine. It was named the best album of 2008 by NME. MGMT also appeared prominently in Australia's Triple J Hottest 100 2008, coming in 2nd with "Electric Feel", 5th with "Kids" and 18th with "Time to Pretend".

MGMT was nominated for the 2010 Grammy Award for Best New Artist, and their track "Kids" was nominated for Best Pop Performance By a Duo or Group with Vocals. These are the first Grammy nominations for the band. At the 2009 Grammy Awards, the Justice remix of "Electric Feel" won the Grammy forBest Remixed Recording, Non-Classical.

Their next album, Congratulations, is due to be released on April 13, 2010. The album was leaked onto the web on March 19. Because of this, the band put all of the songs available as streams from the official MGMT website.

Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden formed the band while attending Wesleyan University during their freshman year. "We weren't trying to start a band", remarked Goldwasser. "We were just hanging out, showing each other music that we liked." They experimented with noise rock and electronica before settling on what David Marchese of Spin calls "their current brand of shape-shifting psychedelic pop." They graduated in 2005 and toured extensively in support of the Time to Pretend EP, opening for indie rock band Of Montreal.

The band first started with the name "The Management", but since this name was already being used by another band, they later changed it to MGMT.

In the autumn of 2006 Maureen Kenny signed the band to Columbia Records. The duo recorded with Flaming Lips/Sleater-Kinney music producer Dave Fridmann in 2007 for their major label debut, Oracular Spectacular. MGMT opened for Of Montreal on tour in autumn 2007 as a five piece touring band including Matthew Asti (bass), James Richardson (drums), and Hank Sullivant (guitar). In November 2007 they performed for the first time in Europe supporting Asobi Seksu and The Courteeners at Koko in London. After March 2008, Hank Sullivant left the band to pursue his own band Kuroma. Will Berman joined as the new drummer, James Richardson switched from drums to guitar, and Matthew Asti remained on bass.

The band supported Radiohead on the Manchester date of their world tour and went on a headline tour of the UK during November 2008, playing at venues such as Manchester Academy and Shepherd's Bush Empire.

MGMT opened for M.I.A. on the Vassar College date of her 2008 tour, and also played several shows with Beck while he toured in 2008. They also toured Australia with a headlining spot on the Meredith Music Festival line-up. They played a show at the Virgin Vestival on Toronto Island on September 6, 2008, playing nine songs off their Oracular Spectacular album. They also played the 2008 Street Scene festival in San Diego. On February 27, 2009 MGMT performed alongside Spectrum at "The Dome" in Finsbury Park. MGMT also added another tour date in Australia at the Splendour in the Grass festival. MGMT is somewhat headlining this music festival with other well known bands, Bloc Party, The Flaming Lips, The Happy Mondays and Jane's Addiction.

MGMT played their first show of 2009 on June 9 in Little Rock, Arkansas. The band Chairlift opened the show. Caroline Polachek joined them for their encore for a cover of the Til Tuesday song "Voices Carry".

On June 11, 2009, MGMT played at Minglewood Hall in VanWyngarden's hometown of Memphis, Tennessee where the band played three songs from their forthcoming album, including the title track, "Congratulations". Later in the week, the band played a late-night gig at Bonnaroo, where they were once again joined by members of Chairlift.

On July 1, 2009 MGMT returned "home" to Brooklyn to play another show at Prospect Park. They played "Congratulations", "It's Working", and "Song for Dan Tracey" from their upcoming album.

MGMT opened for Paul McCartney, an admitted fan, at Fenway Park in Boston August 5–6, 2009.

On August 15, 2009 MGMT played in Hamburg, Germany at the Dockville Festival and performed several songs from their upcoming album.

MGMT was one of the headlining bands for the Treasure Island Music Festival on Treasure Island in San Francisco, California on October 17, 2009.

MGMT has been recently working on their new album, Congratulations, which will be released on April 13, 2010. The band, including Matthew Asti, James Richardson and Will Berman from the live band, spent the summer of 2009 in Malibu recording the album with Pete Kember aka Sonic Boom, ex-Spacemen 3 and Spectrum, serving as producer/guru. MGMT debuted three new songs titled "Congratulations", "It's Working", and "Song for Dan Treacy" at recent shows.

MGMT have suggested that they may not release any singles from the album.

The album cover art for Congratulations was created for MGMT by Anthony Ausgang and the overall design of the packaging is by Josh Cheuse of Sony Entertainment.
On Tuesday March 9, 2010 MGMT released the song "Flash Delirium" for free download on their official website
On Saturday, March 20, the band allowed users to stream their new album from their website.

The band stated that they weren't trying to make an album about fame and success but realized it was inevitable as that's all they've been doing for over a year.
MGMT is scheduled to perform on Saturday Night Live on April 24 and Late Show With David Letterman on May 11 for the promotion of their new album.

MGMT settled a legal dispute with the President of France, Nicolas Sarkozy in May 2009, receiving a settlement payment that they plan to donate to a charity to help musicians with similar legal battles. The song "Kids" was used on several occasions without permission (in 2008), at a party conference and in two online videos. The party paid a standard fee of €53 to the French music licensing party, but this license did not cover all uses of the song. The UMP, Sarkozy's political party, admitted that the song had been used without permission and offered a symbolic compensation of €1. The band rejected the offer, claiming it was "insulting". The band's lawyer commented that "we are dealing with acts of counterfeiting, with infringements of intellectual property."

FACT The Japanese Rock

Formed in 1999, FACT has performed in Japan with STORY OF THE YEAR, STRUNG OUT, and BODY JAR. In addition, they were also part of a US tour with fellow Japanese artist STUTTERFLY, during which they caught the attention of artists rufio and THE USED, who then invited them to appear at 'Independence D'. 

Their first album 'Never turn out the light, to keep myself' was released via the indie label 'bullion'. They have also appeared on an X'mas Compilation Album with IMMORTAL with BLINK-182, FALL OUT BOY, NEW FOUND GLORY, MXPX, Mike Ezinger from INCUBUS and SUGARCULT, as well as an AC/DC tribute album with such artists as Okuda Tamio, Saito Kauzyoshi, Shonen Knife, 10-FEET and RAZORS EDGE.

RUFIO - Loneliest EP

Rufio is a pop punk band based in Rancho Cucamonga, California.

Rufio was formed when bassist Jon Berry was a freshman in college and the other three members, Scott Sellers, Mike Jimenez, and Clark Domae were in their senior year of high school. Sellers and Domae had been acquainted for some time and found a shared talent in the guitar. Sellers met Berry and they began playing together in various groups and sessions. Around the same time, the two purchased a 4-track to record the songs they were writing. After Berry and Sellers began recording, they asked Jiminez to listen to their recordings and play drums with them. Domae joined shortly after and completed the official lineup. The band took their name from the character Rufio, leader of the Lost Boys in the absence of Peter Pan in the 1991 film Hook.

Rufio released their debut recording in 2001 on The Militia Group label, Perhaps, I Suppose.... The band returned in June 2003 with MCMLXXXV (released on the Nitro label), which was recorded with the aid of producer Nick Rasculinecz who has also recorded with Foo Fighters and Rancid. Rufio went on to play on the Warped Tour that summer supporting that album. Their third effort, The Comfort of Home, was released in July 2005. The band embarked on a tour that fall with MxPx and Relient K.

Late January 2006, Berry and Jimenez left Rufio citing creative differences. Following the loss of two members, the band pulled out of their tour with No Use for a Name. While no official statement had then been made regarding a breakup, in a 2006 interview No Use For A Name acknowledged as much.
Since leaving, Mike Jimenez formed a new band called Science Fiction Theater. Sellers and Domae started a band called BigCity.

On Thursday April 5th, 2007, the band announced on their MySpace page that they were to play an official farewell show on June 1 2007 at The Glass House in Pomona, California followed by a South American tour. The statement in full read:
"Farewell show and South American tour. well... its been a while friends... and we've finally decided that its time to do an official farewell show with all the members of Rufio on June 1. We thought it would be a good way to show our appreciation to all our hometown friends and fans who have supported us from the very beginning. We figured the Glasshouse would be a very appropriate venue to host the show and we hope to see ALLLL of you there! we'll be playing a variety of songs, and even oldies we rarely play! Its going to be a sad night but it also means the birth of new projects and new music! We're also going down to South America in June for one last hoorah. we're very excited about this. there are some shows posted right now, and more will be posted later. we cant wait to party with you crazy South Americans! come party with us one last time! Love, Rufio."

However, the band played a few gigs in 2008, and on December 27, 2009, drummer Terry Stirling Jr. announced the release of an EP to be entitled The Loneliest.
Rufio announced they are recording a full-length album due out Summer 2010 followed by worldwide touring.

Alkaline Trio - This Addiction (2010)

Alkaline Trio are an American punk rock band that formed in McHenry, Illinois, in 1996. The band's line-up consists of Matt Skiba (vocals, guitar), Dan Andriano (vocals, bass), and Derek Grant (drums). To date, the band has released seven studio albums, including their newest, This Addiction, released on February 23, 2010.

Alkaline Trio was formed in December 1996 (see 1996 in music), originally consisting of Matt Skiba (guitar/lead vocals), Rob Doran (bass/vocals), and Glenn Porter (drums/vocals). They all hailed from McHenry, Illinois, in Chicago's Northwest suburbs. 1997 saw the release of the band's first EP, Sundials. This was followed shortly after by the departure of Rob Doran, after which Dan Andriano, former singer of Asian Man Records band Tuesday and bassist for Slapstick, took his place and they began recording. The band released their second EP entitled For Your Lungs Only, in 1998, which began to build them a sizable fanbase in the American Midwest. Later on that year, the band released their first full length album, Goddamnit, followed by Maybe I'll Catch Fire in 2000 (both on Asian Man Records). Also in 2000, the band released a collection of their previously released EPs on their self-titled album.

In 2001, the band released From Here To Infirmary on Vagrant Records. This album inspired music videos for the singles "Stupid Kid" and "Private Eye."

Their next full-length album was Good Mourning, released in 2003, with the album's launch single "We've Had Enough" seeing much the same success as the previous single "Stupid Kid." The album was something of a departure from earlier works, featuring greater production values.

The band appeared on various compilation albums, notably Plea for Peace Vol. 1, Vagrant Records: Another Year on the Streets Vol. 1, 2, and 3, and Rock Against Bush Vol. 1. Matt Skiba and Dan Andriano have both independently recorded split records, Skiba with Kevin Seconds on Asian Man Records and Andriano with Mike Felumlee on Double Zero Records, as well as jointly performing backing vocal duties on the album This is Unity Music by Common Rider. They recorded 2 split EPs: one with Hot Water Music in 2000 and the other with One Man Army in 2004.

In 2004, Dan became a member of The Falcon, a supergroup of sorts consisting of The Lawrence Arms' bassist Brendan Kelly, previously of Slapstick (alongside Dan) and The Broadways, and drummer Neil Hennessy. The Falcon also saw contributions from Todd Mohney of The Killing Tree and formerly Rise Against. The band released an EP, God Don't Make No Trash / Up Your Ass With Broken Glass in 2005 and its first full length, Unicornography in September 2006.

Alkaline Trio released their fifth studio album on Vagrant Records, titled Crimson, on May 24, 2005, which featured the single "Time to Waste." The single for this song also included bonus tracks produced by Squirtgun and Common Rider bassist Mass Giorgini. The tracks "Mercy Me" and "Burn" have also been released as singles from the album.

In December 2005, a dual-disc special edition re-release of Crimson hit store shelves. This album features the original cut of Crimson released earlier in the year, while the 2nd disc has demo and acoustic/live versions of some of the songs. Additionally, an enhanced version of the lyrics and liner notes are available for download with personal messages from the band members on the history and/or inspiration(s) behind the songs.

In September 2006, Patent Pending, the debut album by Matt Skiba's side project Heavens was released. The band consisted of Skiba on guitar and vocals, and Josiah Steinbrick (of hardcore punk outfit F-Minus) on bass. On the album, the duo were joined by The Mars Volta's Isaiah "Ikey" Owens on organ and Matthew Compton on drums and percussion. Skiba was playing with Heavens during a short tour in the fall of 2006.

Alkaline Trio released an album of B-sides/Rarities, Live Performances, and a DVD with Performances from The Occult Roots Tour in early 2007 called Remains and put out on Vagrant Records.

In October 2006, it was announced that Alkaline Trio had signed with V2 Records. On January 12, 2007, the North America branch of the label announced that they were undergoing restructuring to focus on their back catalogue and digital distribution. As a result, their employees were let go and their roster of artists left as free agents.
During late May 2007 the band began listing Epic Records as its label on their MySpace.

In February 2008, Asian Man Records released a 10th Anniversary reissue of the band's 1998 full length, Goddamnit. The disc was remixed and remastered, with 4 bonus tracks from their 1996 demo tape added, and the album was repackaged with new artwork and a feature length DVD documentary about the band's early days. Predictably, the release caused quite a bit of excitement for long-time followers of the group.

On Saturday, February 9, 2008, the band posted a message on their MySpace page explaining that they had been in the studio for three weeks working on the new album without revealing a release date or title. The band later announced via their fan club, the Blood Pact, that their upcoming album, titled Agony & Irony, would be released on July 1, 2008. As a gift for members, they made a new song titled "In Vein" available as an exclusive. On April 4, they posted the song on their MySpace for 24 hours.

A contest ("Settle The Score"), was announced May 6, 2008, that encouraged fans to download sheet music of "Love Love Kiss Kiss" from the official website and send Alkaline Trio footage of their interpretation of the song before it was released by the band.

As expected, the band released Agony & Irony on July 1, 2008. First week sales for the album placed Alkaline Trio at #13 on the Billboard album charts.
During a concert in May 2009, the band revealed that they were no longer signed to Epic Records and that they would be releasing new material through their own label later in the year. Recording began that July. Five songs from the album ("This Addiction", "Dead On The Floor", "Dine, Dine My Darling", "Dorothy", and "Fruit Please") were debuted on that tour with Saves the Day.

On November 18, 2009, the band announced that they would be releasing their new album on their own newly formed label, Heart & Skull, a joint venture with Epitaph Records. In the same article, Skiba also confirmed that the new album would be released on February 23 in 2010, with another new song announced, entitled "The American Scream."

On December 1 Alkaline Trio confirmed to Rock Sound that the title of their new album would be This Addiction:
"It is the first song on the record and the title of our new album," said vocalist Matt Skiba. "The song takes heroin addiction as a metaphor for love. The whole record is really personal, all three of us have been through quite a bit since our last album [2008's Agony & Irony] and it is all expressed through this, all the songs are about the relationships we've been in and so the record has a constant theme."
The album debuted at #11 on the Billboard 200, making it the highest the band has ever charted to date.

Alkaline Trio is part of a very large circle of Chicago punk/hardcore bands. Skiba played drums for Jerkwater (with Rob Doran (currently in Pit er Pat); Sean Seeling (currently in Apocalypse Hoboken, ex-Tommyrot); and, Jeremiah Klinger (currently in Gregor Samsa), as well as the Chicago punk outfit The Traitors. Former drummer Glenn Porter played in Tommyrot and 88 Fingers Louie. Stemming from Andriano's previous bands, Slapstick and Tuesday, other artists in this family tree include: The Broadways, The Lawrence Arms, The Honor System, Smoking Popes (Rob Kellenberger from Slapstick, Tuesday and Smoking Popes side project Duvall briefly played drums for part of the Popes reunion tour before being replaced due to scheduling differences.

Ironically, Kellenberger replaced original Smoking Popes drummer Mike Fellumlee, who played drums for Alkaline Trio on their album, From Here to Infirmary, after the Smoking Popes broke up, and now plays with Squirtgun). With the addition of drummer Derek Grant, Alkaline Trio's family tree has grown to include ties with bands such as The Suicide Machines, Thoughts of Ionesco, Walls of Jericho, and Gyga. In 2004 Dan Andriano joined the newly assembled group, The Falcon. The band reunites Andriano with fellow former Slapstick member Brendan Kelly (guitar and vocals) (currently in The Lawrence Arms) and expands the family to Neil Hennessy on drums, (also in The Lawrence Arms). Todd Mohney, former member of Rise Against, played guitar on the first EP but could not attend the recording session for the band's first full length Unicornography, and his spot was temporarily filled in by Kelly and Hennessy.

In 2006 Skiba started the side-project Heavens with Josiah Steinbrick, previously of F-Minus. Their debut album, Patent Pending was released on Epitaph Records.
On September 16, 2009 bassist and co-vocalist Dan Andriano announced he will be playing a series of solo shows across the US under the name The Emergency Room, which may or may not become an official band name.
Skiba was set to release his debut solo album on February 14, 2010, but it has been delayed until the summer of 2010 due to the new Alkaline Trio album . The album's name is Demos.

Madball is a New York Based Band

Madball is a New York-based band that originated in the late 1980s, as a side-project of Agnostic Front (where Agnostic Front's front man Roger Miret would let his younger brother, Freddy "Madball" Cricien take the microphone on lead vocals during Agnostic Front shows).

Madball was founded in 1988 and featured most of Agnostic Front's members. Madball consisted of Agnostic Front's vocalist Roger Miret on bass, Vinnie Stigma on guitar, Will Shepler on drums, and vocalist Freddy Cricien, Roger Miret's younger brother. Madball's first few gigs consisted of un-used Agnostic Front songs.

Madball's first release was the Ball of Destruction EP in 1989. After years of playing regional shows in and around the New York area, a second guitarist, Matt Henderson, would join the band. By then, they recorded and released the EP Droppin' Many Suckers for Wreckage Records. One year later Roger Miret left the band, and was replaced by bassist Hoya Roc — a good friend of Freddy Cricien — who was looking for a new band as his band, Dmize, was breaking up. The new incarnation of the band was signed by Roadrunner Records in 1994 and released a pair of full-lengths; Set It Off in 1994 and Demonstrating My Style in 1996. Touring steadily, the band built a sizeable fan base outside their hometown.

1995 saw the band participating in the N.Y.H.C. Documentary. Extensive interviews were conducted with Freddy as well as a performance on July 29, 1995 at the now defunct "Coney Island High". Freddy's brother, Roger, broke several vertebrae in his back at that show, requiring him to be in traction for the better part of a year.

Consisting of Cricien, Henderson, Hoya, and new drummer John Lafatta, the band recorded Look My Way, which was released in early 1998. Hold It Down followed two years later. The band briefly broke up from early 2001 until late 2002. The current lineup of Freddy Cricien, Hoya Roc, Mitts (ex-Skarhead), and Rigg Ross(ex-Hatebreed) began touring and recording at the end of 2002. Since then, Madball has come out with: Best of Madball in 2003, N.Y.H.C. (EP) in 2004, Legacy in 2005, and Infiltrate The System in 2007. In 2009, Rigg Ross left to join Skarhead and was replaced by ex-Throwdown Ben Dussault. In December 2009, Freddy Cricien announced that the band was currently working on their new album, scheduled for a 2010 release.

Along with bands such as Agnostic Front, Vietnom, Bulldoze, Resistance and H2O, they comprise a part of New York's DMS Crew. Vocalist Cricien and bass player Hoya are also in the band Hazen Street, along with members of H2O and Cro-Mags.

In February 2010 Madball signed a deal with Nuclear Blast for the European release of their new studio album.

Gorillaz - Plastic Beach (2010)

Gorillaz are a British virtual band created in 1998 by Damon Albarn of Britpop band Blur, and Jamie Hewlett, co-creator of the comic book Tank Girl. The band is composed of four animated band members: 2D (lead vocalist, keyboard), Murdoc Niccals (bass guitar), Noodle (lead guitar and occasional vocals) and Russel Hobbs (drums and percussion). The band's music is a collaboration between various musicians, Albarn being the only permanent musical contributor.

Their style is a composition of multiple musical genres, with a large number of their influences including: dub, hip hop, alternative rock, electronicand pop music.

The band's eponymous debut album, released in 2001, sold over seven million copies and earned them an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records as the Most Successful Virtual Band. It was nominated for the Mercury Prize 2001, but the nomination was later withdrawn at the band's request. Their second studio album, Demon Days, was released in 2005 and included the singles "Feel Good Inc.", "Dare", "Dirty Harry" and "Kids with Guns"/"El Mañana".Demon Days went five times platinum in the UK,[5] double platinum in the United States and earned five Grammy Award nominations for 2006 and won one of them in the Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals category. Gorillaz have also released two B-sides compilations and a remix album.

The combined sales of Gorillaz and Demon Days had, by 2007, exceeded 15 million albums. The band's third studio album, titled Plastic Beach, was released in 2010.
Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett created Gorillaz in 1998 when they were both living together in a flat on Westbourne Grove.[10] The idea to create the band came about when the two were watching MTV, "if you watch MTV for too long, it's a bit like hell – there's nothing of substance there. So we got this idea for a cartoon band, something that would be a comment on that," Hewlett said.

The band originally identified themselves as "Gorilla", and the first song they recorded was "Ghost Train", later released as a B-side on their single "Rock the House" and the B-side compilation G-Sides. The trio of musicians behind Gorillaz' first incarnation, Albarn, Del tha Funkee Homosapien and Dan the Automator, had previously worked together on the track "Time Keeps on Slipping" for Deltron 3030's eponymous debut album. The song can be seen as the genesis of the musical style that continued into Gorillaz' first album.

Soulfly Single 2010

Soulfly is an American metal band formed in 1997. Soulfly is led by former Sepultura guitarist and frontman Max Cavalera, who formed the band after he left the Brazilian group in 1996. The band has released six studio albums, one tour EP, several singles, and one DVD video. Their seventh album Omen is expected to be released on May 25, 2010.

Soulfly incorporates many styles of metal with Brazilian tribal and world music. The band has had all six of their studio albums debut on the United StatesBillboard 200, with a peak position at number 32 for their second album, Primitive. Their debut album, Soulfly, has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America

The band has gone through numerous line-up changes, but the current line-up has been stable since 2004's
Brazilian songwriter, guitarist and singer Max Cavalera formed the band in 1997, following his split with Sepultura in 1996, and the death of his stepson Dana Wells. The lineup consisted of former Thorn and Nausea drummer Roy Mayorga from New York, guitarist Jackson Bandeira (Lúcio Maia) from Chico Science & Nação Zumbi, former Sepultura roadie Marcello Dias, from The Mist, on bass, and Cavalera on guitar and vocals. Prior to forming Soulfly, Max Cavalera made a guest appearance on the second Deftones' studio album, Around the Fur in 1997, on the song "Headup".

This song is about Wells' death. Cavalera got the name for the band from the lyrics of this song.

Cavalera was troubled during the recording of Soulfly's first album, and on the band's website he said that he founded the band "with the idea of combined sounds and spiritual beliefs". As well as leaving one of the world's most renowned thrash metal bands, he had to deal with the death of his stepson and best friend Dana Wells. The first self-titled album, Soulfly, released in the spring of 1998, and reached number 79 on the Billboard 200.

In addition to the core band, the debut album featured Mario C., Burton C. Bell, Dino Cazares and Christian Olde Wolbers from Fear Factory, Fred Durst and DJ Lethal from Limp Bizkit, Chino Morenofrom Deftones, Benji Webbe formerly of Dub War and now a member of Skindred, Eric Bobo from Cypress Hill and Jorge do Peixe and Gilmar Bola Oito from Chico Science & Nação Zumbi. The album was recorded at Indigo Ranch Studios in Malibu, California and was overseen by producer Ross Robinson.

In addition to fronting Soulfly, Cavalera also branched out into other areas not usually associated with heavy metal musicians. He became a speaker at music conventions, appearing at CMJ's New Music Marathon in New York and Holland's Crossing Boarder Festival, both in late 1997, and sang a TV commercial for Sprite in Brazil.

After recording the first album, Jackson Bandeira returned to Brazil with Nação Zumbi and was replaced by Logan Mader of Machine Head for the live tour that followed. Soulfly played on the 1998Ozzfest mainstage alongside Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth, and Tool, and played small club tours around the world with bands such as System of a Down and Snot. After the world tour in support ofSoulfly, Logan Mader was replaced by Mikey Doling who had just been displaced by the breakup of Snot.

Richard Cheese and Lounge Against The Machine

Lounge Against the Machine is the first album of Richard Cheese, released October 17, 2000. The album title is a play on the name of the band Rage Against the Machine.
Unlike his subsequent albums featuring his band, which takes its name from this album, the instruments on this debut album are synthesized. Select songs have been re-recorded as "big band versions" for his 2006 greatest hits album, The Sunny Side of the Moon: The Best of Richard Cheese.

The band is currently in the midst of their 2009 "Martini Hero" farewell tour, after the conclusion of which they have announced they will no longer tour outside of Las Vegas. Cheese has indicated that the decision to suspend extensive touring with his Lounge Against The Machine band was based on health concerns relating to the condition of his vocal cords, his desire to spend more time in the recording studio, and because he is looking forward to new live performances of new material (from his forthcoming albums) with new musicians and band configurations. According to the band's website, Cheese will be occasionally performing with a band of Hawaiian musicians in support of his forthcoming 2010 "Lavapalooza" exotica album.

CALIBAN - Say Hello To Tragedy 2009

CALIBAN are a five-piece metalcore / deathcore band from Germany. They have released seven studio albums to-date, and two split albums with the band Heaven Shall Burn. Although the band's sound is "metalcore", the band has stated that they have come from a hardcore scene and are a hardcore band.

Both originally hailing from the Ruhr Area, the largest agglomeration in Germany, modern metal force CALIBAN and Century Media Records are finally worldwide partners in crime after being neighbours for years and already co-operating for CALIBAN's last album "The Awakening" for North America. After Heaven Shall Burn and Maroon Century Media Records is delighted to welcome CALIBAN and hence being a home for the trinity of German modern metal.

CALIBAN's new album "Say Hello To Tragedy" marks a fantastic start for this new global partnership and impressively unites an aggressive, ferocious metal punch with emotive melodies and choruses. Through the course of the record you can discover thrashing viciousness, blasting speed and crushing breaks as well as harmonic clean vocals resulting in an opus rich in contrast and diversity. Songs like the murderous opener "24 Years", "Caliban's Revenge" or "No One Is Safe" prove that CALIBAN have developed into an unrivalled modern metal beast captivating the listener with raging heaviness and catchy melodies to equal terms. "Say Hello To Tragedy" was produced by Benny Richter, co-produced by guitarist Marc Goertz and mixed by Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam D - the same team directing the previous "The Awakening" that hit the German Media Control Charts on #36.

Formed in 1997, CALIBAN is one of the few German bands who managed to build up an international status in recent years. In North America they toured with labelmates God Forbid, The Red Chord, I Killed The Prom Queen and many more and also stopped at North American Festivals such as Hellfest (Syracuse) and New England Metal and Hardcore Festival. They toured Japan with Killswitch Engage and Shadows Fall, played the Beast Feast as well as visited Indonesia, Malaysia and last, but not least Australia as part of the Gigantour with Megadeth, Soulfly and Arch Enemy. Apart from several headline runs they were part of numerous European tours with bands such as In Flames and Devil Driver, Machine Head or Kreator. Also, it doesn't come as a surprise that you could watch CALIBAN on countless European festivals such as With Full Force Festival, Graspop Metal Meeting, Summerbreeze, Rock am Ring/Rock im Park, Wacken Open Air as well as the prestigious Nova Rock and Download Festival (UK). Within Temptation - An Acoustic Night At The Theatre 2009

Long-term partners Robert Westerholt (on guitar) and Sharon den Adel (Vocals) began the band in 1996, after leaving the band The Circle. The Circle re-named themselves Voyage and released an album called Embrace, including a song featuring Sharon den Adel. Soon after that release the band broke up. .

After leaving The Circle, Sharon and Robert started Within Temptation, including new bandmembers Jeroen van Veen on bass guitar, Michiel Papenhove on guitar, Martijn Westerholt at the keyboard and (following a succession of short-lived drummers) Ivar de Graaf. They were quickly offered a recording contract and signed to DSFA Records later that year, beginning work on their first release.

Within Temptation is a Dutch rock/metal band. The band was founded in 1996 by vocalist Sharon den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt. Their music is described as symphonic metal,[3] gothic metal ,although in an interview, Den Adel said they fell into a symphonic rock genre with various influences,and in a later interview with 3VOOR12, Sharon stated that "we consider ourselves more a symphonic rock band ... we are in my opinion no gothic band".

After the release of their first album Enter, the band became prominent in the underground scene. However it was not until 2001 that they became known to the general public, with the single "Ice Queen" from the album Mother Earth, which reached #2 on the charts. Since then, the band won the Conamus Exportprijs five years in a row. Their next album The Silent Force debuted at #1 on the Dutch charts, as did their latest, The Heart of Everything. In 2008 they released a live DVD and CD, Black Symphony, recorded with the Metropole Orchestra.

On August 11, 2009 Within Temptation announced that they would be releasing a live album consisting of acoustic sets from their theatre tour, entitled An Acoustic Night At The Theatre.

In a recent interview, Sharon Den Adel stated that the new album would be released around October 2010.

Disturbed-The Sickness (10th Anniversary Edition) (2010)

Disturbed is an American rock band that formed when guitarist Dan Donegan, drummer Mike Wengren and bassist Steve "Fuzz" Kmak hired vocalist David Draiman in 1996. A demo tape led to their signing to Giant Records, which released their debut album, The Sickness, in March 2000.

The album reached the top 30 on the United States' Billboard 200, and the Australian ARIA Charts. Since its release, The Sickness was certified quadruple platinum, a measure of its high sales volume, in the US by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and platinum in Australia by theAustralian Recording Industry Association (ARIA).

Three singles were released from the album, "Stupify", "Voices", and "Down with the Sickness"; the latter of which was the most successful, having been certified platinum by the RIAA. 

In June 2002, Disturbed released the documentary M.O.L., which showed some of the band's more personal moments in the studio and during tours, and featured several music videos and live performances. M.O.L. was later certified platinum by ARIA. Disturbed then released their second studio album,Believe, in September 2002. It peaked at number one on the US Billboard 200 and New Zealand's Recording Industry Association of New Zealand (RIANZ) charts, as well as number two on the Canadian Albums Chart. Believe was certified double platinum by the RIAA, and platinum by ARIA and theCanadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA).

The album's first single, "Prayer", peaked at number 14 on the Canadian Singles Chart, and number 31 on the UK Singles Chart. A music video directed by the Brothers Strause included the song, but because scenes in the video resembled footage of the September 11 attacks, most television stations refused to play it. The single was followed-up by "Remember", which failed to reach the success of its predecessor. The 2003 tour Music as a Weapon II was documented on the live album, which also featured the bands Taproot, Chevelle, andÜnloco. It was released in February 2004, and reached number 148 on the US Billboard 200.

Three years after the release of Believe, Disturbed released their third studio album, Ten Thousand Fists, in September 2005. The album reached the same positions that its predecessor had; topping the US Billboard 200 and New Zealand RIANZ charts, and peaking at number two on the Canadian Albums Charts. It also was certified platinum in the US, Australia, and Canada. Ten Thousand Fists spawned singles such as "Guarded", "Just Stop", the Genesis cover of "Land of Confusion", and "Stricken". The last two singles both reached the top 90 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and top 80 on the UK Singles Chart. "Stricken" was later certified gold by the RIAA.

Disturbed's fourth studio album, Indestructible, was released in June 2008. Like its predecessor, it peaked at number one on the US and New Zealand charts; it also reached the top position of the Canadian and Australian charts. Four singles were released for Indestructible, the title track, "Perfect Insanity", "The Night and "Inside the Fire" (which peaked at number-one on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks, was certified gold by the RIAA, and was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category Best Hard Rock Performance). The band has released three consecutive number-one albums that have charted on the Billboard 200, a feat that also has been accomplished by Van Halen, U2, Metallica, Dave Matthews Band, Staind and System of a Down.

Four Year Strong-Enemy Of The State (2010)

Four Year Strong is an American pop punk band from Worcester, Massachusetts, formed in 2001. The group consists of vocalists and guitarists Dan O'Connor and Alan Day, bassist Joe Weiss, keyboardist and back-up vocalist Josh Lyford and drummer Jackson Massucco.

They have released three studio albums with the latest, Enemy of the World, released on March 9, 2010.

Musical style

The band's sound can be described as a blend of pop punk, Hardcore punk, and power pop. The band simply developed their sound off the idea of playing 'exactly what they want to hear' or music that they would listen to, but no one else was playing at the time. The band has cited their influences as being Lifetime, Saves the Day, Gorilla Biscuits, Blink-182, and New Found Glory to name a few.

Though the band would primarily start out as a post-hardcore and emo outfit, the release of their demo in 2004 would mark a shift from post-hardcore to more synthesizer-heavy tracks, where the band would began to embrace the styles of power pop and general hardcore punk. Prior to the release of and at times within Rise or Die Trying, the band also incorporates more facets of modern hardcore, such as double bass drums, breakdowns and screaming vocals.
